Stressed? Breathe like a box

The US election energy is INTENSE, and it has got us all agitated, stressed, anxious or even downright terrified. None of us can control the outcome of this election, but what we CAN CONTROL is our own response to the chaos, conflict and unknown.

Let’s keep breathing people. But I don’t mean regular breathing….

I mean deep breathing that CENTERS and CALMS you. That resets your nervous system, shifts you out of anxiety, emotional reaction and looping fear filled thoughts.

Here is a super quick 16 SECOND breathing method that I teach all my clients. It goes like this, do it with me as you read this…

Box Breathing Method


⬆️ INHALE deeply for 4 counts
➡️ HOLD for 4 counts – with lungs full
⬇️ EXHALE deeply for 4 counts
⬅️ HOLD for 4 counts – with lungs empty

 

Rinse and repeat until you begin to feel peace back in your body.

If you are really triggered by something, do at least 3 rounds of this in a row and it will release fight and flight mode, reset your major organs back in synch with each other and get your wise prefrontal brain back online so you can FOCUS CLEARLY.
